What is in the woods?
The inspiration for this project had been brewing for several years, so I was super happy to get the time an opportunity to do it. My main inspiration has been my twin sister who is deaf-blind; she has always run her fingers across my illustrations and told me how beautiful she thinks they are, even though she could not feel what was on the page. I wanted to enable both blind and sighted children to enjoy books together without any boundaries; I do no feel that sight should be a limitation when it comes to art. We all love looking at art so I thought, why should this be any different for someone who can't visually experience it? The book has a simple layout to enable the blind reader engage with each page easily and enable children to easily follow the story.
